Children Still Live in Poverty
More than 4.5 million children in Britain live in poverty. That is almost a third part of all the child in the country. Even Britain is one of the richest countries in the world but child poverty has been growing year after year. Many children go to school without meal, do not have proper clothes and cannot afford activities that other children enjoy.
Poverty is caused by many things. Family income is one, but government rules, higher living costs, and recent economic problems also make it worse. Families with three or more children is struggling the most. Almost half of these families live in poverty while only one in five families is with one child. Rules like the two-child benefit cap have made it hard for bigger families to buy essentials and pushing more children into poverty.
Some areas in Britain are worse than others. Inner-city areas, especially in the north of England and places like Birmingham Ladywood, have very high child poverty rates. In some areas, more than 60% of children live in poverty. For these child the poverty is not just numbers but it is a daily struggle. In many classrooms, most children do not have enough food or a home it’s making it harder to learn and grow.
Poverty affects more than just daily needs. Children living in poverty often feel stress all the time. They are having high risk of health problems and mental health issues. More than 2.5 million children do not have food. Not getting food affects children growth and stay healthy. Experts warn those children who grow in poor have a hard time in school and in life.
Education is another area that poor students suffers. Child living in poverty do not have a silent place to study, computers or chances to join school clubs. Low family income also affects school. Tension of poverty can lead to behaviour problems and makes it hard or children to succeed.
Government policies in recent years have made the problem more complex. Benefit, strict rules for help and low wage growth mean many working families still cannot keep their children out of poverty. Many parents work but still cannot provide security. Charities say that help from the government has not kept up with the cost of food, rent and energy and leaving parents with hard choices every week.
Child with disabilities and child who come to Britain as unaccompanied seekers they are at even greater risk. Many rely on public services, which are stretched and cannot meet all the demand. Families already struggling feel more pressure.
Local charities and community groups do important work but they cannot meet all the need. Some children live in “hygiene poverty,” which means families cannot even afford soap or toiletries. Families who cannot access public funds, including over 700,000 child because of immigration rules, face even greater difficulties.
To address this issue, society and the government have not done enough. While some regions, such as Scotland, have provided special payments to children, child poverty is still on the rise in the majority of Britain. According to experts, we require both immediate assistance and long-term adjustments. Families require access to decent childcare, reasonably priced housing, and universal government assistance.
The severity of the issue is demonstrated by child poverty in Britain. Every child should have an equal chance to live a happy and healthy life. Millions of child still having more poverty. Things gives us hope is the strong action taken by lawmakers to address the root causes of poverty, provide real family support, and ensure that every child in Britain has the chance to thrive. Child will still struggle on a daily basis if nothing changes, and the nation will lose out on the potential of an entire generation.
